National Power Training Institute (NPTI), an ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 organization, is a National Apex body for Training and Human Resources Development in Power Sector with its corporate office at Faridabad. NPTI is continuing its dedicated service for last five decades. NPTI operates on an all India basis through its units in different zones of the country.
National Power Training Institute Delhi is one of the nine centers of NPTI in the country. Established in the year 1974, the institute is ideally located in the premises of Badarpur Thermal Power Station (BTPS) of NTPC Ltd. Since inception NPTI Delhi has progressed towards establishing itself as a center of excellence in field of Power Engineering Training & Development, in consonance with the contemporary and future needs of the country’s power sector. The institute offers an excellent academic environment coupled with quality infrastructure. Not only does it celebrate freedom of thought, cultivate vision and encourage growth, but also inculcates human values and concern for environment and society.

NPTI institutes are fully equipped with the latest state-of-the art-training infrastructure. They have classrooms, conference halls with audio-visual aids, syndicate rooms, sanctum sanctorum, auditorium & recreational facilities together with trainee and executive hostels, guest houses and staff quarters.
The Training Institutes at Badarpur and Nagpur are equipped with 210 MW digital, full–scope, real-time, fossil-fuel-fired power plant training simulators to provide off-job, hands-on training. Another 500 MW full-scope fossil-fuel-fired training simulator and 430 MW full-scope combine cycle gas turbine simulator have been set up at NPTI Corporate Centre, Faridabad. Despatcher training simulator (DTS) at Power Systems Training Institute (PSTI) is a comprehensive tool for training of power system and load despatch engineers and operators.
A centre of excellence in Geographic information system (GIS) having high-tech training tools for imparting training and consultancy services in the area of GIS-based electricity distribution has also been set up at NPTI Corporate office, Faridabad.
NPTI has workshops and laboratories for providing practical training in preventive and corrective maintenance methods and techniques of power and process industries such as:
Control & Instrumentation (C&I) labs with facilities for calibration, repair and tuning of different types of process control instruments.
Condition Monitoring Cell for vibration analysis & Non destructive testing (NDT)
Maintenance workshops for pumps, valves, bearings, shaft alignments etc.
Labs for relay testing, electrical equipment – switchgear, transformers and motors
Computer labs with high speed LAN/WAN
NPTI libraries at the Corporate Office and the regional institutes have a large collection of books and video packages related to modern power station technology practices, frontier technologies and managerial aspects. They also subscribe to a number of Indian and foreign technical journals and periodicals.
NPTI's forte in training lies in its training support services such as audio-visual aids, computer compatible projection systems, slide and film projectors, VCRs, recording decks, synchronised projection systems, video recording for mirroring technique etc. together with graphic and photographic studios for development of training materials.
NPTI also has various working and non-working models relating to main systems and equipment of power stations.
Closure of Academic Courses:
In a major setback to the entire Power Sector and allied organisations, NPTI has closed admission to B.Tech.(Power Engg.) and MBA (Power Management) from this session 2017-18. These courses were popular with students as they were getting on job exposure to power sector working and thus finding useful employment opportunities.
The placement department of the college facilitates on-campus recruitment by giving a common platform to students seeking jobs, guided by a set of rules and principles strives to maintain warm relation with firms. Preparing the recruitment schedule for the year, inviting firms for pre-placement talks on campus followed by final placements, and overseeing the process to its end is a responsibility that the Placement Cell endeavours carry out successfully.
NPTI Bags Two Coveted Awards
NPTI has been conferred the award for “Best Learning and Development Strategy” for the year 2010-11 by the World HRD Congress, under the category Hindustan Times shine.com HR Leadership Award. The award was announced on 9-2-2011 in a ceremony held at Hotel Taj Lands End, Mumbai.
NPTI has also been conferred the award for “Excellence in Training” for the year 2010-11 by the World HRD Congress, under the category Employer Branding Award. The award was announced on 12-2-2011 in a ceremony held at Hotel Taj Lands End, Mumbai.
NPTI WINS INDIA POWER AWARD 2011
National Power Training Institute (NPTI) has been conferred 4th India Power Awards 2011 instituted by Council of Power Utilities for “Excellent work in imparting training to Power Engineers”. The award was received by Sh. Subodh Garg, Director General, NPTI in a glittering ceremony held at India Habitat Center on 24th November 2011. NPTI was selected for the coveted award by an eminent jury consisting of Sh. P. Abraham, Former Secretary, Ministry of Power, Sh. H. L. Bajaj, Former Member (Technical), Appellate Tribunal for Electricity and others and the jury had unanimously recognized the contribution of NPTI towards excellent work in imparting training to Power Engineers.
